Robert E Fenton ‘Bob’ went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 20, 2021. By the strength and grace of God he was lovingly ushered into heaven under the sweet compassionate care from his dedicated wife Virginia, his family and Vitas healthcare: Jan, LPN, Barrington, RT, Janet, HHA and Brian, his Chaplain. Robert was 83 years old, he was born in Lynn Massachusetts as he referred to as ‘the Brickyard’ on September 17, 1937 to the beloved John and Dorothy Spinny Fenton. He was preceded in death by his grandson Daniel Fenton Dineen, his parents and many sisters and brothers. Bob is saving a glorious seat for his most precious, devoted wife of 57 years Virginia M. (Kauppinen) Fenton; a daughter Dawn A. (Fenton) Dineen, her husband Mark and his granddaughter Mollie Elizabeth; a daughter Karen M. Fenton, David Aylward and his granddaughter Kaitlen Marlie; a son Robert E. Fenton, Jr.; and a son Shawn R. Fenton, his wife Peggy S. (Jamieson) Fenton and his grandson Timmothy John. He is survived by his steadfast sister Rita (Fenton) Muise of Wakefield, MA, sister Virginia (Fenton) Bean of CA, many nieces and nephews and his loyal, beloved ‘Sugar’ the Pug. The Lord knit Bob together with an Irish twinkle in his eye and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed being with people making everyone laugh and telling jokes and stories about his adventures throughout life. He was such a hard worker. He started at an early age working at the Papetties and Humpty Dumpty‘s. He then became a fashion salon stylist at Fashion on the Ocean, where he styled Virginia’s hair for all her modeling and fashion events. He worked as a proud union carpenter for local #40 in the city of Cambridge, MA with his close friends. After retirement, he went to work at the skating rink driving the Zamboni! Once in Florida he worked for HPH Hospice. He delivered medications to Pasco County, then to Hernando County and then to Citrus County every day bringing not only urgently needed medications but a smile and even a good laugh to many, many people across the 3 counties in their greatest time of need. He enjoyed gardening throughout his life, and built a tiered, multi-level stone wall -what everyone called ‘The Great Wall of China’ throughout his yard in Peabody. Bob became a University of Florida Master Gardener with his wife Virginia. He designed a beautiful, peaceful common ground area complete with a waterfall for Citrus County’s Government Center in Lecanto, FL. He was a true family man who loved for his family to get together, at church, for a cookout, a festive meal, pool parties and of course always ending in a game of cards. He enjoyed music and was the drummer for ‘Bruce Nottingham and the Serenaders’ back in the day. He loved his country, serving in the army he traveled on USS Buckner and spent time in Germany. He was politically active throughout his life right up to his last days. Robert enjoyed sports but truly loved hockey with his son Shawn, carrying those memories and telling those stories to anyone who would listen. He loved a good meal enjoyed cooking and absolutely loved to go out to eat -especially with his family the bigger the crowd the better. He was a determined, strong fighter in all aspects of his life but in his last days it was beyond... he spent his last week of life staying up all night at his desk putting everything in order for his wife without anyone knowing until he was gone. He loved his grandchildren so much. He and Aiti played a huge role in Kaitlen Marlie’s up-bringing. He fostered in her an incredible love of animals and beyond strong work ethic as he continued to raise farm animals and have glorious gardens here in Florida. He thought wisdom and education was very important and loved to watch Mollie Elizabeth succeed in all her educational endeavors but especially enjoyed her love for books. He loved the outdoors and shared a great passion for fishing and boating with Timmothy John. He was such a wonderful loving ‘Granddaddy’ who will be missed forever but we look forward to and cling to God‘s truth and promise the he loved ‘the best is yet to be!’.
