Orphia McCoy

Orphia McCoy - “Mama”, 88, of Ethridge, TN, formerly of Lecanto, FL., Frisco,TX, and Brunswick, OH., passed away on February 10, 2021. She was 8 days shy of her 89th birthday, being born on February 18, 1932 in Whitewood, VA., daughter of the late Suel and Alta Wimmer.

Orphia had many occupations throughout her life; she worked at American Greetings in Cleveland, OH., Deputy Sheriff for Medina County Police Department, the Brunswick City School system, also in Ohio, and various jobs in restaurants throughout the years – Mr. Hero, Uncle Al’s to just name a few.  She was a proud member of Eastern Star.  She also enjoyed clogging, watching basketball and baseball games with her family, and attending her great-grandson’s many baseball/ football/ and basketball games throughout the years where she is always known as “Mama”.  She worked hard throughout her life, and helped her granddaughter graduate High School and get a good start in her adult life.

She is survived by her two children; her daughter Gerry Lynn Breeden and her husband John Breeden of Ethridge, TN., her son Samuel W. McCoy and his wife Jacqueline currently of Denton, TX., two grandchildren; John Breeden and wife Faye of Frisco, TX., Amber McCoy of Denton, TX., and three great-grandchildren; Kyle Bussman of Denton, TX., Johnny Breeden of Frisco, TX., and Landon McCoy of Denton, TX., along with many “self-appointed” grandchildren from Brunswick, OH., and great-grandchildren from Frisco, TX.  She leaves behind three sisters; Bobbie Harper, June Horne, and Shirley Wimmer.

Orphia was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Edison McCoy, and six of her siblings; Grat, Julia (Tootsie), George (Joe), Bill, Hazel, and Eva.
