Richard "Dick" Newhall

July 3, 1939 — January 13, 2026

Beverly Hills

Richard (Dick) Paul Newhall of Beverly Hills, Florida, passed away on January 13, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on July 3, 1939, in Sanford, Maine, he was the son of the late Harold and Irma Newhall.

Richard graduated from high school in Sanford, ME, and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably for three years. Following his discharge, he attended McIntosh College in Dover, NH. It was during this time that he met his beloved future wife, Lesley Devereaux, on a blind date. They married in 1963 and began their life together in Connecticut, where Richard started his career as an accountant at Pratt & Whitney.

Richard and Lesley raised their family in Connecticut. He was a devoted father, always present at his children’s baseball and softball games, and a regular at the local bowling alley. After nearly 29 years at Pratt & Whitney, Richard retired and, in 1993, he and Lesley relocated to Beverly Hills, Florida.

In Florida, Richard continued his passion for sports, playing softball and bowling in tournaments, including a memorable softball trip to Las Vegas. When not on the field or at the lanes, he enjoyed watching sports on TV, cheering for his favorite teams. Richard also loved music and dancing, often found on the dance floor showcasing his moves.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Lesley Catherine Newhall, and his brother Robert Newhall.

He is survived by his sons Kevin (Tammy) Newhall and Todd (Myoung) Newhall, both of Vernon, CT; his daughter Dawn (Richard) Cournoyer of Yulee, FL; his grandchildren Clayton Newhall, Ryan (Britany) Newhall, Alison (Patrick) Ritter, and Alex Newhall, Starlene Martorelli, Britteny McAllister; and his great-grandchildren Ryan Newhall Jr. and Audrey Ritter and many nieces and nephews, a sister Rita Lemay of Shapleigh, ME. He is also survived by his companion, Theresa Sardono, with whom he shared his home.

Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was known for his kindness and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026, at Heinz Funeral Home, 2507 Highway 44 West, Inverness, Florida, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Richard’s legacy of love, laughter, and sportsmanship will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
