Reverend Frederick C Ohsiek

The Reverend Frederick Charles Ohsiek II passed away on October 9, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend. He was born on April 11, 1937, to the late John & Marion Ohsiek in Savannah, GA. After graduating from Savannah High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Newberry College and a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.

He was ordained in 1964 and served several congregations in the Southeastern and Florida-Bahamas Synods: Miller’s and Zion Parish (Knoxville, TN), Ascension (Jackson, MS), St. John (Nashville, TN), Christ (Prattville, AL), Messiah (Casselberry, FL), and Good Shepherd (Hernando, FL).

Frederick married Margaret Reinsch on February 12, 1966. They were partners in life and in service to God and their community. They were blessed to raise three children: Carol (Blaine) Mattison, Frederick “Rick” (Jody) III, and Peter. He was a loving Opa to his five grandchildren: Katie, Caroline, and Colin Mattison; and Drew & Noah Ohsiek.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, The Reverend John H. Ohsiek Jr.. Survivors include his wife, children, grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Elsa Ohsiek.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (439 East Norvell Bryant Hwy, Hernando, FL) on October 15 at 1:30 PM with gathering predeeding at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ELCA Southeastern Synod AFFIRM Capital Campaign (PO Box 400, Decatur, GA 30031), a ministry for youth which has been served by three generations of the Ohsiek family.
