Marie Hicks

Marie Julia Hicks, 90 years old, passed peacefully from this life on September 3, 2022, with her husband, Harold Hicks and her loving daughters by her side.  Marie was born April 24, 1932 to the late Lester and Marie (nee Lucas) Chaney in Chicago, Illinois, was Catholic by faith and the oldest of three siblings.

In her younger years, Marie developed the love of music while taking piano lessons, eventually performing with the Chicago Youth Symphony at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall.  In addition to music, she loved, gardening, traveling, fishing and dearly loved animals…  but mostly her beloved family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie is survived by Harold, her loving husband, as they shared 63 years of love together, her daughters Sandra (Cliff) Folland, Wendy (Thomas) Thieling; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with another on the way!  She is also survived by her sister Carol.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Theresa.

The family will be celebrating her beautiful life on September 13, 2022 at 1 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.  Arrangements by Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
