Louis D. Lopez , 93, of Ocala died on January 1, 2017 at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL.  Louis was born on April 20, 1923 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, son of Regino and Aurelia Lopez.  He was a US Army veteran of WWII.  Louis was an accountant.  He and his wife Helen also owned and operated the Holly Loch Rest Home in Islip, NY.  He moved to Inverness in 1982 and then to Ocala in 2014.   Louis was instrumental in the founding of the Citrus County RC Club, and a life member.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Inverness.

Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his wife, Helen and grandson, Mark Slade.  Survivors include his son, James L. Lopez and his wife Jeanne of Inverness, FL; daughter, Karen Bennett of Ocala, FL; four grandchildren, Wendy Stanley (Shane) of Ocala, FL, Jessica Baily (Brett) of Madison, WI, James R. Lopez (Kelly), of Ft. Benning, GA, and Jared Lopez (Helen) of Roanoke, VA; and seven great grandchildren, Elyssa, Eva Marie, RJ, Crissy, Ian, Cheyanna, and Phillip.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Lopez will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Heinz Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the hour of services.  Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the DAV, 1039 N.
