Karen Maddox

July 18, 1956 — April 28, 2022

Bushnell

Maddox, Karen, 65, of Bushnell, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born to Hubert and Barbara (Boiman) Sailers on July 18, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In July of 1981, she met her future husband Joe Maddox and they married in October 1982. When Joe accepted a position in 1993 as Director of Missions for the Alachua Baptist Association (now known as the Nature Coast Baptist

Association), they moved from Clearwater, to Inverness, and eventually their current home in Bushnell, Florida.

Karen and her family were very active in serving the churches and ministries of the Nature Coast Baptist Association where they assisted with events like the Super Day of Training, Biblical Worldview Weekend, and others. In addition, she participated in events for Citrus Pregnancy Center (formerly Life Choice care Center) where she was able to demonstrate her passion for the unborn. Joe and Karen have been active members Stagecoach Junction Fellowship in Bushnell. Previously, they have served in ministry at FBC Inverness and Shepherd’s Way Baptist Church in Lecanto.

Karen enjoyed studying the Bible, art, decorating, plants, flowers, the beach, and her Jeep. Her greatest joy outside of her faith was her family.

Karen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Joe; 8 children: Brittney (Ryan) Barnes, Derek (Rachel) Maddox, Ryan (Lacey) Maddox, Lauren (Chris) Morgan, Daniel (Ashlee) Maddox, Nathan Maddox, Hannah Maddox, and Jackson Maddox; 10 Grandchildren (plus 2 on the way); and her mother Barbara Sailers. She was preceded in death by her father Hubert Sailers and her brother Greg Sailers.

Karen was loved and cherished by so many. There will be a Celebration of her Life and Faith on this Saturday at 3 PM at First Baptist Church Inverness.
