Joanne Boan Reasoner    1946 ~ 2025

Joanne Boan Reasoner, of Citrus Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, three days short of her 79th birthday. Joanne was a beloved wife, mother, and sister. She was born in Rockville Centre, New York, the daughter of Robert Edwin Boan and Meriam Magdeline Boan. She was the second of five children and is survived by her husband of 31 years, David Avon Hutchinson, and daughter, Lorraine “Gina” Hewitson; brothers, Gregory Boan and John Edward Boan; sister-in-laws, Cindy Boan and Melanie Boan; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers, Robert Edwin Boan Jr, and Richard Bruce Boan.

Joanne had an adventurous spirit and lived an extraordinary, full life. Her interests were boundless. She was a United States Army veteran and later served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Civil Air Patrol. She loved helping people and chose a nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She was also a devoted caregiver, caring for her mother for over 10 years, and was always willing to help others, even strangers, with compassion and generosity.

She was enamored with horses and owned several. Some Tennessee Walkers, but mostly, thoroughbred Pasifinos that she personally rode, competing in many competitions. Other passions were sailing and scuba diving. She sailed the Florida Keys and the Gulf of America in fair seas and weathered the stormy ones, much as she lived her life. She was fearless. Ironically, she met her husband, David, when she answered an ad “looking for a dive buddy, male or female.” That was the beginning of a loving relationship that spanned over three decades. They were married underwater, 25 feet down at the statue of Jesus Christ in John Pennekamp State Park, Key Largo, Florida, followed by their honeymoon night submerged in the Jules Undersea Lab, in Key Largo. Joanne left a legacy of love and kindness and shall remain in our hearts forever.
