Horst Hlawaty

Horst Hlawaty, 76, of Hernando, FL died on November 4, 2017 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL with his wife and son by his side.  Horst was born on March 27, 1941in Pabianice, Germany, son of Josef and Bertha Hlawaty.  Horst was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Spinnax from 1961-63.  He was a civil engineer and retired from the City of New Port Beach, CA.  Horst moved to Hernando in 2006 from Irvine, CA.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Lakeside Golf and Country Club and Twisted Oaks courses. He will be dearly missed.

Mr. Hlawaty is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Sibylle Steiner of Hernando, FL; his beloved son Hans Hlawaty (Rachael Shook) of Corvallis, OR and his beloved grandson, Josef; sister Charlotte Pickelhaupt of Elmira, NY; and nephews, John and Richard Pickelhaupt.

A memorial service for Mr. Hlawaty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Heinz Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service.  A reception will follow at Lakeside Golf and Country Club in Inverness.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice.  Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL. heinzfh.com
