Emil "Sonny" Jaros, Jr.

Emil “Sonny” Jaros, Jr., 76, of Inverness, Florida, shared his first sunrise with Jesus on February 18, 2023. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 22, 1946, to the late Catherine and Emil Jaros, Sr.

Sonny was married to Tanya for over 50 years, she was his one and only for a lifetime. As a Christian man and member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church of Inverness, Sonny loved Jesus. He was an avid fisherman and always placed his family as his top priority. Fishing with his family was his happy place. Sonny also enjoyed classic cars, vinyl records and a good Polka. A real man’s man. A loving Father-in-law that adored his daughters-in-law and grandsons. He retired from Pleasant Grove Elementary School but also worked as a custodian at Citrus High School. Before his time in the Citrus County school system, he was a barber by trade, following in his father’s footsteps. While he was still physically able, he would freely provide haircuts to those in need or shut ins. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and served as a draftee in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Frankie Jaros, Sister-in-law Mary Ann Jaros, and Brothers-in-law Jack Burchfield and Daniel Metzger.

Survivors include his wife, Tanya; three sons, Chad and his wife Keri, Jereme and his wife Shannon, Christopher and his wife Bridget; and six grandsons, Jacob, Tyler, Trent, David, Emil Justice, and Zachary. Also left behind are his sisters: Emily Burchfield, Mary Metzger, and Mildred “Cookie” Boocher, and her husband Joe; a brother, Steve Jaros, and his wife Barb; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 9:30 AM, on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness, the family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home at 9:00 AM. A Graveside Service with military honors will follow at 11:30 AM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
