David A. Shreckengost

David Alan Shreckengost, of Hernando, Florida, passed away on May 22, 2026.

Born on June 19, 1963, in Brookville, Pennsylvania, David was the son of Dale Shreckengost and the late Sandra Hoffman Shreckengost. In 1988, he moved to Florida, where he built a life, career, and family.

David dedicated 37 years of service to Florida Public Utilities, where he worked as an Operations Technician. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, David enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, following NASCAR, cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, and listening to rock music. From a young age, he enjoyed playing guitar and carried a lifelong appreciation for music. He also loved sports cars and was always working on a project, whether upgrading his Dodge Challenger, working on one of his many motorized toys, or finding ways to improve and customize the things he enjoyed. He especially enjoyed teaching his children how to work on vehicles and sharing the skills and knowledge he had gained over the years.

A devoted father, David took great pride in raising Courtney and Dale Jr. as a single father. He cherished watching his children grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and attending Courtney’s wedding to William Steadman. Throughout his life, he treasured time spent with family and the countless memories made along the way.

David was known for his easygoing nature, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his kind and caring heart. Most of all, he will be remembered for his mischievous smile, which often hinted that he was up to something, and for the laughter and happiness he brought to those around him.

David is survived by his father, Dale Shreckengost; his children, Jake McAlexander, Courtney Shreckengost Steadman (William), and Dale Shreckengost, Jr.; his sisters, LeeAnn Hinderliter and Aimee Rheaume; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his mother, Sandra Hoffman Shreckengost, David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Geneva Hoffman, and his paternal grandparents, Filmer and Pauline Shreckengost.

David’s ashes will be laid to rest at Worthville Cemetery, PA. A private celebration of life will be held with family at a later date.

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
