Carol Eddleston

January 10, 1947 — August 9, 2023

Homosassa

Carol Berry Eddleston, 76, of Homosassa, FL, passed away peacefully at
home on August 9, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of
forty-four years, George, in May of 2018.
Carol was born in Manchester, NH, on January 10, 1947 and grew up in the
beautiful lakeside community of Wolfeboro, NH, where her father,
Thaddeus, owned a mill and was an engineer for the Wolfeboro Railroad and
her mother, Phyllis, was an antique dealer. As a young woman, Carol moved
to Boston, where she lived at the famous Franklin Square House.
It was in Boston, while working as a legal secretary, where she met and later
married in 1974 her husband George. They initially resided in the
picturesque seaside village of Marblehead, MA, and later moved to their
twenty-five-year residence in Beverly, MA.
Carol was an avid follower of professional golf on television and travelled
with George to various significant golf tournaments, including the US Open.
She also followed the America’s Cup Sailing Races, which took the two of
them to various seaport destinations. Carol loved traveling with George to
Hawaii and Alaska, and they were happy to have seen a lot of the world
abroad.
Before retiring, Carol worked as a retail manager at Jordan Marsh
Department Store in Peabody, MA, and in the late 90’s, she and George
decided to build their Florida dream home at Sugarmill Woods in
Homosassa.
In Florida, Carol became an avid golfer, and after many years of watching
professionals, it was no surprise that she was actually pretty good at it. She
was an organizer and member of the Sugarmill Woods Country Club
Swingers golf group. More recently, she helped to organize the monthly

Singles dining group held at the country club. Carol also enjoyed spending
time playing cards with her friends, whom she greatly adored.
During their retirement in Florida, Carol and George embarked on many
cruise ship vacations, often in the company of friends, which she greatly
loved. Carol also spent a lot of her free time relaxing by the pool, reading
books, and watching the big professional golf tournaments on television.
Carol is survived by her two daughters, Christina Eddleston of Ware, MA,
and Deanne Furciniti of Salisbury, MA, and her son-in-law, Douglas
Furciniti of Groton, MA. She leaves a grandson, Brian Furciniti and Karen
Hauser of San Francisco, CA, a granddaughter, Allison Lavallee and her
husband Mark Lavallee of Dunstable, MA, and two adored great-grandsons,
Lucas and Leo. She also leaves behind many very close and wonderful
friends.
Carol will be greatly missed by all who shared her life.
A private Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held with family and friends at
a later date to be announced.
Services entrusted to the care of Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness, Florida.
