Albert “Pico” Pierre, former Prison Officer, died peacefully on March 10, 2019 in Inverness, Florida at the age of 79.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irma Pierre of Arima, Trinidad & Inverness, FL; son, Teddy Pierre and his life partner, Cheryl Hungerford of Inverness, FL; grandchildren Francesca Pierre and her fiancé, Brandon Mayse of Inverness, FL, Fernanda Pierre and her partner Carlos Razo of Houston, TX, Maria Serrano Pierre, mother of Francesca and Fernanda Pierre, of Tampa, FL; great grandchildren, Hunter Mayse and Levi Mayse of Inverness, FL; sisters in law, Vera Bartolo of Arima, Trinidad & Inverness, FL, Cathanice Ogiste of Tampa, FL, and Sylvin Simmons of Trinidad; nephews, Brian Ogiste and Randy Ogiste of Boston, MA, Dillon Lewis and his other siblings of Trinidad; brother in law, Sonny Alfonso of Trinidad; extended family, Alfred Pierre and family of Trinidad, Loretta and Neil Espinosa and family of Trinidad, and many nieces and nephews; treasured “sons” Louis Amis of Charlotte, NC,  Mark Clarke of Jacksonville, FL, Bryan Hunter of Chicago, IL, and Kenneth Mills of Charlotte, NC; treasured friends, Roslyn Morris of Boston, MA, and daughters, Arlene Morris of New York, NY and Glenna Morris of Houston, TX, Hollis and Marjorie Hobson of Middletown, DE, Kenwyn and Noreen Allen and the Achong family of Trinidad, Bill Humphrey and family of Trinidad, the Hinkson family – Kit, Edsel, Tane and Mimi of Trinidad and England, Theresa Miller of Trinidad, and Kern “Pancho” Lovell of Trinidad; friends, David and Marilyn Martin of Boston, MA, Ingrid Crichlow of Boston, MA; friends in Trinidad, Henry Williams, the Degazon family, Clinton and Donna Jennings and the Jennings family, David Salavaria and other family and friends too numerous to mention.He was  preceded in death by his mother, Adella Ramsey of Trinidad; father, Peter Pierre of Trinidad; brothers, Thomas Pierre of England, Wesley Pierre, Malcolm Pierre and James Pierre of Trinidad.

Pico was born in Arima, Trinidad to Adella and Peter Pierre.  He married Irma Bartolo and had one child, Teddy.  Prior to immigrating to Boston, MA in 1971, he worked as a Prison Officer (Turnkey) for over 10 years in different correctional facilities across Trinidad. During his working life in the US, he held several different jobs, often at the same time, including Printing Press Operator and Print Shop Supervisor for Teradyne, Inc., Housekeeping Supervisor for New England Deaconess Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and The Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. Whenever extra income was needed, whether for buying a car or home, educational bills for his son, or building his dream home in Trinidad, he did side jobs printing flyers, cleaning office buildings, hosting parties in the West Indian community and driving taxicabs.  He was a man that was not afraid of hard work and always found a way to provide for his immediate family and those of his extended family.

He loved his family.
He loved his friends.
He loved to eat.
He loved to dance.
He loved to drink.
He loved to laugh.
He loved his Lord.
And he was loved.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, 2507 Hwy 44 W, Inverness, FL 34453.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated,Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady-Fatima Catholic Church, 550 US-41, Inverness, FL 34450. There will be a Repast following the funeral services at Olive Garden in Inverness. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Pico’s life.

At a later date, a celebration of his life will take place at the Santa Rosa Roman Catholic Church in Arima, Trinidad.

The family would like to thank the following caregivers for their dedication and care of Pico: Linda Paponette and Maribel Mergal, the medical and support staff at Brooksville Healthcare Center and the dedicated nurses at VITAS Hospice Care of Lecanto, FL
